Empowerment Scholarship Accounts
It is our pleasure to announce to you that on July 20, 2011 the Arizona State Legislature signed into law SB 1553 establishing Empowerment Scholarship Accounts.  Empowerment Scholarship Accounts (ESAs) are accounts established to provide education for qualified students with special needs which must include reading, writing, grammar, mathematics, social studies and science.

Below there are two attachments that explain more about ESAs.  Please refer to these to determine whether you qualify.  If you need assistance gathering the proper documentation to apply, please call the VINE office.
VINE-Valley's Individual Needs Enhancement Program
What is VINE?

Since 1981, Valley Christian High School has been providing excellent education and extra-curricular experiences to students in the east valley. God has moved the Board, Administration, Faculty, and Staff to open the doors a bit wider to invite more students to benefit from this unique experience. Beginning in August of 2006, Valley Christian High School began offering special education classes and accommodations for students with learning and other "diffabilities." This program is called V.I.N.E. – Valley’s Individual Needs Enhancement Program. The students are taught with content and methods that enhance (strengthen, improve) their individual needs, thus helping them to grow to their full God-given potential.

The mission of Valley Christian High School is that students know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, live like Him, and prepare academically, physically, socially and spiritually, enabled to make a difference in the world. This mission is not limited in scope only to those students who are academically talented, but extends to all high school students who truly desire a Christ-centered education. At Valley, we believe that all people are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). We also believe that all believers are indispensable to the body of Christ (I Cor. 12:21-27). Therefore, we fulfill our mission by teaching ALL students, regardless of academic ability or diffability, to abide in the Vine!

SAT and ACT Testing for Students with Learning Differences
Parents,

If your child has an Accommodation Plan or an IEP, please inform the VINE Office of your intent to have him/her take the SAT or ACT test.  The companies that administer these assessments require specific documentation from the school in order to determine whether or not a student is eligible to receive accommodations on the tests.

These accommodations must be applied for at least eight weeks in advance, so it is imperative that you contact the VINE Office as soon as you determine the date you want your child to take the test.  If you have further questions regarding these tests, please call Lisa Bernier, Director of Special Education.

Thank you!
